The High Desert Championship Series
Every private club crowns a champion. None of them ever play each other.
Five clubs. One filmed round at each. Five champions, one final, one title.
The Premise
The best player at one Central Oregon private club has likely never teed it up in competition against the best player at the next one over. Every club runs its own championship. None of them cross.
There's an obvious question sitting there, and nobody has ever answered it.
This fall, we're answering it. Six of the best players from each of five Central Oregon private clubs play one filmed round of individual gross stroke play at their home course. The winner from each advances. In late October, those five meet on neutral ground and play for the title.
The whole season is produced as a documentary series.

The professional and the amateur play every event and are not eligible to win.
The Final
The five club champions meet at a neutral site in late October. Not one of the five, deliberately — nobody plays a championship at home.
One round. Low gross. The winner takes the championship belt and their pick of a driver or putter from Parscription Golf.
The trophy goes back to the winning club, where it stays until someone comes to take it.

Jesse Heinley
Owner of Parscription Golf in Bend. Plays all six events as the professional the field is trying to beat. Parscription is the series' founding partner.
Kyle Looper
Bend-based software founder, plus-handicap amateur, and the developer of Aftershot. Plays all six events while chasing a return to competitive golf.
The Field
Thirty of the strongest players at five private clubs, most of whom have never played competitively against each other.
The Data Layer
Every player in the series uses Aftershot, the voice-first golf journal we build, for a few rounds before their event.
On competition day we film a pre-round game plan built from each player's own numbers, and a post-round debrief on what the data expected versus what actually happened. It's the thread that runs through the whole season.
